POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Education Coordinator will provide part-time support to the Managing Director of Early Childhood Education and the Education Department in the day-to-day needs of a preschool program serving 120+ children ages two through five. Working primarily during afternoon and Extended Day programming, the Education Coordinator will support teachers, children, and families and assist with administrative and program-related tasks that help the department run smoothly. The successful candidate will bring warmth, creativity, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Managing Director with the day-to-day needs of the Education Department during afternoon and Extended Day programming.
- Provide support to teachers and staff with classroom needs, questions, and day-to-day program needs.
- Help ensure that Extended Day programming runs smoothly and that children and families have a positive experience.
- Assist with communication with families, including answering questions, sharing information, and helping address concerns as needed.
- Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
- Support teachers with classroom materials, resources, and curriculum-related needs.
- Assist with maintaining program records, forms, and other educational documentation.
- Support teachers with child observations, assessments, and developmental documentation as needed.
- Assist with program activities, family events, staff meetings, and other Education Department initiatives.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- FLSA Non-Exemp, Part-Time Position.
- Monday - Friday: 3:00 pm – 6:15 pm, with room for flexibility.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
- Two years early childhood education teaching experience preferred.
- New York State Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2 or equivalent) required.
WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCE:
- Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must pass the background check, medical exams, fingerprinting and other requirements of the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE).
